Queen Anne's Bounty

A fund established by Queen Anne in 1704.

She surrendered her revenues from first fruits and tenths to the fund, which was to be used for the benefit of poorer beneficed clergy. In the 19th century the fund also received parliamentary grants and private donations. In 1948 the administration of the fund passed to the Church Commissioners.
